Overview

At JCS Technology we are used to working with  Electroplating and surface treatment companies.  We offer a range of services specifically targeted at the Electroplating and surface treatment industry. From Chemical analysis of plating solutions to Current density calculations and Tank contamination levels to Adhesion tests, JCS Technology can help.

Frequent monitoring of the plating and surface treatment  processes can result in significant savings due to reduced bath solution losses, reduced scrap rate,  and improved quality. Analysis can also be used for other applications, such as quality control of raw materials and environmental compliance monitoring.

As specifications for plated products become ever tighter and the cost of producing high-quality products increases, processers need to better understand the critical balances in the solutions and their impact on the deposit quality. Improved analytical techniques for characterizing  solutions help producers to improve control of process chemistry. This results in improved production efficiency and overall profitability.

Plating

Plating is a commonly used term to describe a thin metal coating on an object. In fact, most metals  can be deposited from solution by three similar processes.

Electroplating where an electric current passes through a solution containing metal ions resulting in  metal being deposited onto the cathode (negative electrode).

Electroless plating does not require electricity but a chemical reducing agent is used to convert metal ions to metal.

Immersion plating where metal ions from solution are displaced by dissolution of a more reactive metal.

Surface Treatment
Anodizing, or anodising, is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of aluminium parts. Anodizing increases corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and provides better adhesion for paint primers and glues than bare metal.

Accurate and frequent monitoring of the plating process can result in significant savings due to reduced scrap rate, reduced bath solution losses, and improved quality. Analysis can also be used for other applications, such as environmental compliance monitoring, quality control of raw material chemicals, and routine sample analysis.
